Come hear Mr. de la Rubia speak on the amazing global efforts underway in the development of the first-ever World March for Peace & Nonviolence.
In his recent tour through Latin America, Mr. de la Rubia met with numerous organizations and government officials who have endorsed the March, including Bogota Mayor Samuel Moreno and Chilean President Michelle Bachelet.

on IMMIGRANT RIGHTS

Candidates Have Been Invited and Are Expected to Attend including: Daniel Dromm, Stanley Kalathara, Alfonso Quiroz, Helen Sears 

Organized by the Center of Cultures, and New York City Chapter of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA), and cosponsored by Queens Community House, Queens Pride House, New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE) and Make the Road New York

Moderated by Claudia Cruz, Editor of El Correo de Queens and staff reporter for the Queens Courier

The candidates will take questions addressing the issues of education, workers, health, voting, and housing with a specific emphasis on the immigrant community in Jackson Heights, Corona, Elmhurst and Woodside and the City of New York. The 25th City Council district has the largest foreign-born population of any district in NYC. More than 53% of the residents of the district are first generation immigrants.

Waiting for Mercy tells the story of a fabricated FBI sting operation that took place in Albany, New York during the winter, spring and summer of 2004. The complex operation was designed to entrap Yassin Aref, 37 (a refugee from Kurdistan in northern Iraq) and Mohammed Mosharref Hossain, 51, a United States citizen and an immigrant from Bangladesh. www.waitingformercy.com
